THE HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS TOUR FOR 12 DAYS

DAY 1 : IMLIL – TAMARTE PASS – TACHEDDIRT

In the morning you will be picked up at your hotel in Marrakech and taken tot the skiing resort of Okaimden at 2600m in the Atlas Mountains. This is where you will meet your muleteers and mules. After lunch we will head for (Tiferguine), which is known for its many sheep pens. We will keep on walking to the foot of Ouhattar at 3000m where we will setup camp and have our dinner. (Night in tiferguine camp).

DAY 2 : OUHATTAR – AGOUNS – TINOUMMER – OURIKA – TAMGUIST – ANFLI –TIOURDIOU

Today our 6 hour long hike will take us through many traditional Berber villages. We will cross the mountain pass and descend past the towns of Agouns and Tinoummer until we arrive at the beautiful Ourika valley. From here we continue our trek until we reach Tiourdiou where we will stop for dinner and setup our camp for the night. (Night in tiourdiou camp).

DAY 3 : TIOURDIOU – TAMATER – ASSIF N’OUFRA

After traditional breakfast we will set out on another 6 hour trek. We will first head towards the Tamater pass at 2200m which will take us out of the Ourika valley. From here we will descend to the Assif n’Oufra wadi where we will stay for the night.

DAY 4 : ASSIF N’OUFRA – AMENZEL – TIZI OUMCHICHKI – TINNIZER RIVER

In the morning we will leave Assif n’Oufra behind and we’ll head down a twisting track that takes us to Amenzel after which the track broadens out with the valley. The valley features many water torrents that come down the High Atlas mountains, into the basins below. We will reach Tizi Oumchichki at 2981m in the afternoon from where we will have a spectacular view of the region and the snow tipped pinnacle of Mount Toubkal. We will start our descend towards the banks of the Tinnizer river at 2200m. where we will set up our camp for the night.

DAY 5 : TINNIZER RIVER – ASSIF OURAÏ – TIZI PASS – AMZOUZART

Today marks the mid point of our adventure. We have a lot of walking ahead of us, about 7 to 8 hours. Our trek takes us across several high passes and another Berber village before we reach Amzouzart which lies at 3120m above sea level. This si where we will have dinner and settle down for the night.

DAY 6 : AMZOUZART – LAKE IFNI

Today we will travel at a more relaxed pace than the previous day. Our main goal is Lake Ifni, high in the mountains. A 3.5 hour ascend will take us there. Once we get to lake Ifni we will spend the rest of the day relaxing at this beautiful area. You can even go for a swim in the cool waters of the lake if you please.

DAY 7 : LAKE IFNI – OUANOUMS PASS – TOUBKAL

After a relaxing day at the lake we will be heading for the highest mountain in north Africa, Mount Toubkal. We will leave the lake behind and head out to Ouanoums pass at 3660m, from which we have a spectacular view of the surrounding area. From here we will descend to 3300m and we will setup camp at the point where the pass meets the foot of Mount Toubkal.

DAY 8 : TOUBKAL ASCENT

Today you will ascend Mount Toubkal and reach its peak at 4167m. Before we can enjoy the amazing view of the surrounding Atlas Mountains and the Sahara desert to the south, we have a 4 hour steep climb ahead of us. Once you’ve taken in the views and want to head down we will descend back to our camp of the previous night, where we will once again stay for the night.

DAY 9 : TOUBKAL – OUANKRIM – ASSIF ‘N’ ISSOUBOUANE – SIDI CHAMAROUCHE – ARMED

After making it to the highest point in North Africa the day before, we will head for the second highest peak in the High Atlas today. The summit of Mount Ouankrim is 4089m above sea level and will take us all morning to reach. After summiting and enjoying lunch we will descend towards Assif ‘N’ Issoubouane and Sidi Chamarouche. We will stop at this holy shrine, which is a popular destination for pilgrims, but forbidden to non-muslims. In the afternoon we will reach the town of Armed where we will stay in a guest house. It’s also possible to make a relaxing visit to a Hamam in this town.

DAY 10 : ARMED – TIZI OUSEM

After traditional breakfast in the guesthouse we will leave Armed and gradually make our way down to the Berber town of Imlil, which you will have time to explore.

DAY 11 : IMLIL  –  TAMSOULT  – TIZI OUSEM

Start in the morning up to tizi ousem  through the tizi m’zzik path 2489m. Where you will give a chance to see an amazing view  of the azzaden  valley with its beautiful  Berbere valleges  and then go to discover the waterfall  of Tamsoult we will eat our lunch there and then go down to sleep in tizi  Ousem.

DAY 12 : TIZI OUSEM – TIZI OUDIDE 2000 – MARRAKECH

The last day we will go down from tizi Ousem  vallege and go down to discover some wonderful  Berbere valleges ,  after lunch you will drive back to Marrakech, approx 4 hours walking. Morocco hike with “Atlas Mountain Hiking” finishing and we would like to thank you for exploring Atlas mountains with us.

Beginning in the early morning from Imlil, we reach Toubkal summit in 6 hours, and then descend the entire journey to arrive back in Imlil where you stay the night at our guesthouse or riad.

For reservation any of our Marrakech hiking trips we require 15 % deposit pre-payment.

BEFORE YOU COME TO MOROCCO / ACCOMMODATION :

We recommend you to reserve hotel/riad accommodation before and after your Morocco hike starts / finishes. We will be happy to manage comfortable accommodation in Marrakech and in Atlas mountains if you require and we recommend to check your passport as you need it for travelling to Morocco. There is NO visa requirements for EU , USA and many other nationalities. Contact your embassy for actual info.
