Surrounded by huge defensive walls, it seems suspended in a time warp, somewhere between the Middle Ages and the modern. Guided visit of medieval Medina, Quaraouine University, Medersa Attarine, Kingdom Palace, Ben Denane synagogue, souks. Overnight stay in a riad.

We continue to Merzouga , where we spend the night in a riad / kasbah with dinner and breakfast in Hotel

DAY 4 – MERZOUGA DESERT EXCURSION AND CAMEL RIDE

The great ‘sand sea’ of Merzouga, a beautiful area of fine, apricot-colored sand stretches as far as the eye can see. The best time to experience its beauty is at dawn when sunrise over this incredible landscape is breathtaking. We will ride camel or walk alongside as you slip into the pace of the caravan led by Berber guides and marvel at the awesome spectacle of the desert and the solitude and silence that comes with it.

DAY 5 – MERZOUGA – TODGHA GORGES – DADES GORGES

Leaving the desert behind you’ll head up into the Atlas Mountains to the Todgha Gorges, a spectacular gash in the hills that surround Tinerhir. The region is dotted with deserted kasbahs, palmeries and mud- brick villages, creating a photographer’s paradise. The cliffs loom above as you approach the mouth of Todgha Gorges. Rising to 300 meters, the honey-colored hues of the sheer face change constantly as the sun moves across the sky. Local Berber people can often be seen moving their herds through the Gorges. Heading into the Gorges you’ll have the chance to stretch your legs on a walk to fully appreciate the beauty of the area. Rejoining the vehicle you’ll retrace your steps out of the Gorges and follow the remainder of the Route des Kasbahs to Kelaat Mgouna in the Dades Valley. Overnight stay in the Dades Valley with dinner and breakfast included.

DAY 6 – DADES GORGES – AIT BENHADDOU – MARRAKECH

In the morning enjoy the views of the Dades Gorges, carved by centuries by the Dades River. The sticking colours of the red and mauve rock that towers above the road. After our visit we will be passing the Rose Valley known for the growth of roses. The whole valley in the spring smells of roses. The products made of the rose petals are priced throughout the world. The road will then takes us to the palm oasis of Skoura where we visit an important Kasbah Amerhidil, featured on the Moroccan bank notes. Then it is a short drive to Ouarzazate, and Ait Benhaddou, the best-preserved Kasbah. With its dramatic walls of red earth, slit windows and crumbling towers, it is a magnificent example of a traditional stronghold. Chosen as location for Hollywood films such as Lawrence of Arabia, Jewel of Nile and more recently Gladiator, Ait Benhaddou sits upon a lofty pinnacle of rock overlooking a river. Dating from the 15th century, its importance as a trading post gradually waned, and today’s inhabitants eke a living from farming. Then it will be time to cross on a dramatic drive the High Atlas Mountains, the views get more and more impressive. Then arrival to Marrakech.

DAY 7 – MARRAKECH EXCURSION DAY TRIP

Today we enjoy Marrakech guided tour in the city. Marrakech is possibly the most important of Morocco’s four former imperial cities (cities that were built by Moroccan Berber empires). Like many Moroccan cities, Marrakech comprises an old fortified city packed with vendors and their stalls (the medina). Marrakech has the largest traditional Berber market in Morocco and the image of the city is closely associated with its souks.  The Jemaa el-Fnaa is one of the best-known squares in Africa and is the centre of city activity and trade. It has been described as a “world-famous square”.
